Non-negotiables revisit

Tim and I were revisiting the five-six non-negotiables that he and I had chosen for our little Dustin. In 1 Timothy, Paul urged Timothy to stay in Ephesus and to command the false teachers to discontinue their ways. In his letter, Paul says:


"These promote controversies rather than God's work--which is by faith. The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. Some have wandered away from these and turned to meaningless talk. They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm." 1 Timothy 1:4-7

As Tim pointed out this past weekend, the non-negotiables that we had chosen for our son are already set forth in the Bible! Our non-negotiables included integrity (a good conscience), contentment/peace (a pure heart), faith/love of Christ (sincere faith), love (love) and wisdom/knowledge. Throughout the Bible, it is made known that wisdom comes from God ("The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding.")

And so, each of our non-negotiables were set forth in the Bible. I suppose that we should have consulted the guidebook to obtain our non-negotiables. For there, it seems that most answers lye.

Now, if only there was a clear answer about the Cherios!

The lowdown on Little Man:

• He is a little over 9 months old;
• He is in the 90th percentile for length and the 25th percentile for weight (he is a slim little guy);
• He is eating fruits, veggies, puffs, baby cereal and milk--he tries fruits and veggies that we can mash for him from the table;
• He loves bath time and enjoys putting his hand under the running water, playing with his squirties and letters and splashing in the tub;
• He crawls all over the place;
• He tries to climb the stairs;
• He loves his doggy;
• He likes to eat at the big boy table in daycare;
• He wants his mommy when he is sleepy, needs comforted or is hungry;
• He loves playing with his Daddy;
• He recently began pointing a finger at me;
• He likes to play peek-a-boo;
• He hates having his diaper changed, clothes put on or nose unplugged (i.e., anything that requires him to be still);
• He likes to play with his toy piano and his toy drum;
• He enjoys books (or, at least chewing on them);
• He wears size 12 month clothing and sometimes 18 months;
• He has 8 teeth;
• He says "dada" and "mama";
• He is absolutely, bar none, the most adorable boy EVER!!!!!!!
• He is loved!
